Member Profile: Jack Reid & His Tri-Pacer
[Updated Mar 2007] The Tri-pacer I bought is a project: it had a taxing accident. The nose wheel dropped down into a badger hole and bent the nose wheel strut and engine mount. My friend Ernie took the plane apart and towed it behind his truck, back to Cardstone, in southern Alberta. Before we put it back together we were doing some refabricing on the main wheel struts, and repainting the lower half of the fuselage. I took a couple of pictures of Ernie painting the aircraft this Saturday, and I have one of me, taken by Bob, he is the owner of the Hanger that Ernie has been working out of, down in Cardstone. In another two weeks we should have the wings on and the engine rehung. The import and registration is happening right now as well. I will have some more pictures once the plane is back together. I am very excited and anxious to have her in the air.
I got my license over 40 years ago and this is the first airplane I have ever owned. It has been a real pleasure driving down to Cardstone and working with Ernie. What a great individual he is and has he ever got a lot of wisdom , knowledge, and patience. I don't know if these pics will be good enough for our newsletter the ones of a completed aircraft may be of more interest to our Chapter Members.
Wishing you a great day.
Jack
